Patents and Trademarks

Minneapolis Public Library has been a Patent and Trademark Depository Library since 1981. The Central Library downtown has a complete collection of patents on DVD and dedicated computers for viewing them as well as supporting materials to help you do a patent search.

A patent librarian at Central Library gives a patent searching workshop on the first Wednesday of every month to help you get started.

The U. S. Patent and Trademark Office provides the ability to search patents and trademarks on the Web as well as a wealth of information on applying for them.

You can search the Library catalog for books using the subject Patent practice-United States-popular works.
