Adult Education Classes

We offer free English and Adult Basic Education classes at three libraries. 

Franklin Learning Center (Franklin Library) – One-on-one tutoring and small learning circles for English, math, writing, citizenship and more. Call Nancy at 612.630.6830 for more information and to register.

New Americans Center (Central Library) - The Central Library Adult Education class offerings and schedule is changing to reflect the demand of students enrolled and to serve a greater number of ESL adult learners.

ELL Reading Lab
10:00-1:00 Tuesday-Friday
Work independently and with volunteers to improve your reading in English. The program includes pronunciation and reading aloud, listening on the computer, discussion and writing. All levels are welcome.

Intermediate & Advanced ESL
1-4 p.m. – Tuesday through Friday
Join students in level 5/6/7/+ for classes focused on conversation (speaking and pronunciation) and listening skills.

The focus of each class indicates the class emphasis and is not the exclusive content of the class.

Adult Homework Help is available every Saturday from 10am - 3pm in the New Americans Center.  Adults are encouraged to bring their GED or ELL homework to get help from tutors. No registration required. 

Northside Learning Center (Sumner Library) – English classes for all levels, GED preparation, basic math and more. One-on-one tutoring, small group classes. Call Sarah at 612.377.5399 for more information and to register. A partnership with the Minnesota Literacy Council.

Conversation Circles – A volunteer-led opportunity to practice English language conversation skills with other adults. No registration required. Call 612.630.6238 for more information.
